XXXV - Sonnet to a Banker - for Dr Eric Chin

price decouples the coupon from a bond
just as the mature might of August
gives off rotting light which corresponds
to our fast decay and slow sun - why must

the numinous be impersonated ?
how can we anticipate currency
once death finally germinated
and the payoff’s reckoned ? no warranty

insists a person’s metaphysical
or uploadable as uncoupled mind -
the sun will catch up with our divisible
lives by a long shot of time then decline

to its Autumn - our just deaths a fair deal
as the light left over from nothing’s yield
